Dear Customers,
We would like to inform you about current developments and measures for a secure supply chain.
Challenge: New requirements for tamper-proof packaging.
The German Federal Aviation Authority (LBA) has again brought the issue of tamper-proof packaging to the fore. This is leading to uncertainties and challenges in the acceptance and control of air freight shipments. The different interpretations of the regulations by parties such as warehouse managers, handling agents and airlines can cause delays and additional costs.
Consequences for shipping:
Our packaging measures for smooth shipping:
To ensure that your deliveries are not affected by these delays, we implement the following standards:
Boxes without pallets:
Original packaging (carton) glued with 100 mm wide, thread-reinforced paper tape. We do not use plastic adhesive tapes.
Carton on pallet:
Compliance with regulations:
The LBA emphasizes that all airfreight shipments – regardless of their origin or supply chain – must comply with the regulations. If they are not properly packed, they must undergo an additional inspection and be repacked.
Additional information on control measures:
Stricter security checks can lead to delays in shipping. Alternative control methods such as X-ray (XRY), explosives detection (EDD), explosive detection dogs (EDD) or physical searches (VCK/PHS) often require the opening and repackaging of shipments – which incurs time and costs. Rejects due to “Darc Alerts” (dense areas on X-ray inspection) often require more elaborate procedures.
