External coaxial illumination is mounted under a zoom lens and is used for larger fields of view and low magnifications
External coaxial illumination is mounted under a zoom lens and is used for larger fields of view and low magnifications. Koxial lights produce uniform, diffuse illumination for flat, reflective surfaces. They simulated coaxial illumination for non-telecentric lenses. A beam splitter directs the light rays along the same axis as the camera lens. Reflective surfaces perpendicular to the camera appear bright. Surfaces oblique to the camera and non-reflective surfaces appear dark.
Please note that this illumination is not suitable for high magnifications or short working distances. In our Kitozoom range, the EKL-56 is slid onto the end of the zoom system with an adapter and screwed tight. We normally use this light only in combination with the 0.5x and 0.67 x adapter without using an attachment lens. The usable zoom range is then between the 0.5x and 2.5x level. Other sizes and optional blue, red or green LEDs are available.
